Characterized by cultural dance, music and regalia, The SABC – MediaShop Heritage Takeover is an annual partnership aimed at educating the advertising industry at large about the power of SABC radio and television brands nationally, while celebrating the rich South African heritage. This unique event also creates a platform and an environment where the SABC Commercial Enterprises and clients interact outside the formal office setup.
The event, in its second successful year is a feast on SABC TV and Radio programming with all cultures finding expression in SABC’s 5 Television channels and 19 Radio stations. Among the clients who got treated to a day of cultural magic as only can be delivered by the SABC are the MediaShop of course, and its clients namely, Famous Brands (Steers, Debonairs, Fishaways, Wimpy), Old Mutual, and SA Tourism.
“As the SABC we look forward to these kinds of intimate interactions with our clients, where as the custodians of the South African heritage, we are able to reflect the heritage, culture and the languages of the millions of audiences we have the privilege to inform, educate and entertain on a daily basis,” says Warren Bedil, General Manager SABC TV Sales.
“More than celebrating the South African rich heritage, this is also an opportunity for the SABC to boast about the success of our programmes, Uzalo, Skeem Saam and Generations leading the TV front, Ukhozi FM, Umhlobo Wenene FM and Metro FM leading the radio front.”
“SABC looks forward to building on these successes to establish itself as a leader within the South African broadcasting landscape. The Partnership we share with The MediaShop is one we do not take lightly as it is an opportunity to bring our clients closer to our product and services in establishing meaningful relationships.”
